Alex Kiwomya, the teenage son of former Huddersfield Town fitness coach Andy, has joined Barnsley on loan from Chelsea.

The 18-year-old striker is the nephew of Huddersfield-born former Ipswich Town striker and Notts County manager Chris Kiwomya.

Having started out at Rotherham United, the England Under 19 international joined Chelsea in 2010.

He helped the Blues win the FA Youth Cup in 2012 (they take in Town in this season’s fourth round at Aldershot next Tuesday).

Sheffield-born Kiwomya could play in Saturday’s League I game against Yeovil Town at Oakwell.

“I’m young, I want to express myself and show what I can do,” he said.

“Danny Wilson is the perfect manager and it’s the perfect time for me.

“I’m really glad to be here. I know a couple of the lads. I’ve played with Ross Turnbull and I know Mason Holgate.”
