There's a belting tie in store on Sunday when the Championship leaders host the Conference top dogs in the Drakes League Oddfellows Cup.

The second-round clash between Cawthorne and Rastrick at Dark Lane could be a classic encounter, with batting big guns Jacob Waterson and Liam Wiles going head to head.

And the bowling battle between Cawthorne skipper Chris Walmsley and Rastrick strike man Jordan Ghani is one to whet the appetite too.

Cawthorne top the Jedi Sports Championship on 34 points, two ahead of Clayton West, while Rastrick are five points clear in the Cedar Court Conference in addition to representing the division in the quarter-finals of the arrowselfdrive Sykes Cup (when they host top-flight Moorlands).

Waterson, who is also useful with the ball, is the top run-scorer in Drakes cricket going into the weekend – Rastrick are at Cumberworth on Saturday.

He has 576 runs at an average of 144 since returning to Round Hill from Sheffield Collegiate.

Wiles, meanwhile, has hammered 438 runs at an average of 73 since returning to Cawthorne from Shepley, and he’s also picked up 15 wickets at 16.73 to back up the efforts of Walmsley, who has 18 victims at 13 apiece.

Rastrick’s Ghani, meanwhile, is the leading wicket-taker outside the Premiership with 24 scalps at a miserly 9.5, while skipper Ollie Pearson is level with Wiles on 15 wickets, his coming at only 13.93 each.
