BLACKLEY remain second in the Towergate Halifax Cricket League’s Premier Division after a home victory over Sowerby Bridge.

The visitors scored 171-9 with Ibby Mir claiming four for 68 and Theo Greaves three for 29 as Helliwell had set the pace for Bridge with a knock of 65.

Blackley picked up eight points as they battled through to 172-7, which sees them just three points adrift of league leaders Thornton.

Openers Fred Fox, who hit 62, and Tom Baxter (44) gave the home side a great platform but it took middle order batsman Jonathan Stenson to see them through with an unbeaten 29.

Outlane stay at the top of the Terry Wynne Second Division despite slipping up at home to Wibsey Park Chapel.

Outlane scored 190-7 with Chris Brook leading the charge with an unbeaten 79 and skipper Daniel Crosland chipped in with 34, but Wibsey hit 196-3 being guided home by an unbeaten knock of 66 from Hemsby.
