Thurstonland are back on top of the arrowselfdrive Huddersfield Central League with two matches to play after a stunning 10-wicket win over Holme Valley rivals Holmbridge.

While the Drakes League-bound club picked up all six points, previous leaders Mount could collect only five in their win at Green Moor and therefore slipped to second in the standings.

Mark Askham and Lee Booth did the damage with the ball for Thurstonland, taking three for nine and four for 30 respectively as Holmbridge were sent back for just 95, Martin Gledhill contributing 43.

Chris Flanagan (45no) and ex-Shepley man Tom Sykes (51no) then shared an unbroken partnership to take their side to 97-0 and back to the top.

Mount travelled to Green Moor knowing they had twice been beaten by their hosts this season but determined to put that record straight.

Green Moor decided to let Mount bat first and it seemed to be going their way as the visitors were struggling on 64-4 at one point.

But then captain Hasan Patel top scored with 80 and had a top partnership with Imran Sayed Patel, who managed to hit 62, and they posted a total of 263-8.

In reply Green Moor also struggled at the start of their innings and were reduced to 35-7.

But Nigel Dowkes hung around for 40 not out and they finished the game on 97-7 to take a point, Riyaz Motala taking four for 15.

Mount entertain Holmbridge on Sunday while Thurstonland visit Edgerton & Dalton.
