AUSSIE ace Greg Davis notched a mighty 245 runs as Clayton West smashed their own Drakes Huddersfield League scoring record.

Visitors Hall Bower were blasted all over the Back Lane pitch as West walloped 464-4 on their way to a 325-run win in the Frank Platt Conference.

While Honley hit 557 in a Sykes Cup clash with Broad Oak back in 1952, the previous highest innings in a league game was West’s 411-7 against Dalton in 2001.

This time Davis, from the Mount Lawley club in Perth, joined forces with Clayton stalwart Stuart Rank, who made 156.

Davis hit 13 sixes and 27 fours and Rank 12 sixes and 14 fours, and the pair shared a third-wicket stand of 303 in 24 overs.

As if Hall Bower hadn’t suffered enough, Davis’s Mount Lawley clubmate Chris Thomson (4-26) then linked up with Dean Rickson (6-28 in 9.4 overs) to send the Castle Hill club back for 139.

There were eight centuries elsewhere, six of them in the Drakes Premiership, as batsmen held sway all over the league.

Zach Morris made an unbeaten 134 (five sixes and 18 fours) as Hoylandswaine, fifth in the top flight, were eight-wicket winners over Slaithwaite, who had their own ton-maker in Wajid Hussain (101).

Bilal Khiljee hit an undefeated 119, then took three for 36, as third-placed Delph and Dobcross won by 123 runs against Elland over the tops.

And fourth-placed Kirkburton had two centurions as they won by eight wickets at Marsden.

Former Yorkshire and Glamorgan player Matthew Wood amassed 109 not out, his fourth ton of the season, and Charlie Roebuck an unbeaten 103.

Liam Wiles’ 106 (two sixes and 12 fours) proved vital as second-placed Shepley won by seven wickets at Skelmanthorpe.

Replying to the hosts’ 242-6, Shepley made their victory target in the 45th over, with Sarjinder Pal Singh chipping in with 81 not out.

They remain seven points behind leaders Honley, who had some nervy moments before clinching a 5-1 derby win over Holmfirth.

Javed Iqbal top scored with 74 as the bottom-of-the-table home side reached 181-8 before having Honley in trouble at 103-5 in the 27th over.

It took some stubborn resistance by Martin Green (69) and Danny Howard (35) to steer Honley home.

At nearby Scholes, Golcar were seen off by seven wickets as Iqbal Khan’s 81 not out for the home side followed Steve Whitwam’s 77 for the visitors.

Gary Colman hit the winning runs for Barkisland, finishing on 83 in the six-wicket win at Broad Oak.

While Frank Platt Conference leaders Shelley fought out a tie at Lepton, who looked comfortable at 121-2 but ended up all out for 187, Cedar Court top side Paddock suffered a nine-wicket defeat at third-placed Armitage Bridge.

Faheem Hussain’s leg spin brought figures of four for 21 in seven overs as Paddock were skittled for 114 in 36, and Jake De Araugo then made 61.

Andy Armstrong’s 125 and Ateeq- Ur-Rehman’s 93 not out propelled Rastrick towards their hefty 347-4 against Linthwaite, who were all out for 251, while Richard Shaw’s 107 helped Lascelles Hall beat neighbours Kirkheaton by 86 runs.
