THE Drakes League Executive have slightly tweaked the rules for the Twenty/20 tournament, which this year is being sponsored by Romida Sports.
The change in policy refers to how the venues are decided in the semi-finals and final.
There is no change to the quarter-finals which have already been formulated and printed in the handbook. However for the semis, the two teams with home advantage will be the two quarter-final winners with the best runs-per-over rate.
Similarly, the final will be held at the team who had the best runs per over rate in the semi-finals.
Previously the venues were decided by the teams scoring the most runs in the quarters and semis, which of course penalised a team who may have bowled out their opponents very cheaply in the first innings, leaving them with only a small winning target to chase. This year’s competition gets under way on Tuesday, June 2, when holders Delph & Dobcross will entertain Marsden in their first game.
