LASCELLES HALL are now ready to celebrate.

The historic club, devastated by an arson attack in November last year, are having an official opening of their interim facilities.

They have continued to play in the Drakes League Cedar Court Conference this season using a prefab for changing rooms, alongside which they’ve built some decking.

Now, a week on Monday (the Bank Holiday, August 29) they are staging a match between the current Lascelles Hall side and a team of former players to celebrate the progress made (start time is 2.30).

Committee member Richard Hall said: “We want to mark the fact we are looking ahead after all the upheaval we’ve suffered, and we hope as many cricket supporters as possible will come along on the day to celebrate with us.

“We are getting back some of our former players to take part in a 25-over game – and trying to drag some others out of retirement! – and we’ll be having a barbeque and sop supper with all proceeds going towards the new clubhouse.”
