THE Examiner are again putting up cash prizes as an incentive for the first batsmen to reach 500 runs in the Drakes League programme, and the first bowler to reach 50 wickets.
As usual, the prize money is split into the Premiership, where the respective winners will receive £75, while the first batsman to 500 in the Championship and Conference will receive £50, the same as the first bowler to 50 wickets.
In the Second Elevens, the prizes are restricted to one batting and one bowling across the board, with 400 runs the target for batsmen and 40 wickets for the bowlers.
After the first three League matches of the 2011 season, only two men, Danny Wood, from Elland, and John Sadler from Hoylandswaine, have passed the 200 mark (both of whom are in the Premiership), while in the Championship/Conference, the front-runners are Hayden Jones from Armitage Bridge and Scott Marsh from Lascelles Hall.
