AS with the First Elevens, completed matches in the Drakes Second XI programme were limited last weekend, with Elland’s home game with Golcar the only one to start and finish in the Premiership.
That ended with a victory for the visitors, Chris Fawcett (38) and Asif Iqbal (44) steering Golcar to a five-wicket win after Ashton Blakey (32) and Howard Palmer (35) had led Elland to 143-9.
In the Championship, Holmfirth came very close to beating Lascelles Hall, but with only 14 required to win with six wickets in hand, the game was abandoned leaving the Thornton’s, Brett and Ross unbeaten on 31 and 23 respectively.
David Keen (45no) and Jack Mulhall (40no) had earlier scored the bulk of the Hall’s 130-8 tally, Lee Watmough taking four for 28.
In the Conference, David Mellor (six for 9) and Dean Wood (three for nought) skittled Kirkheaton for just 26, Paddock going on to win by six wickets, while Andrew Murfin (five for 31) and Josh Jones (four for 18) knocked over Linthwaite for 55 who were replying to Shelley’s 157-8.
Clubs are asked to please note that this Saturday is Sykes Cup and Paddock Shield day.
Should game not start, then Sunday is the carry-over day. However, where it is not possible to either play or complete a game on Sunday, then clubs may, be agreement with the umpires, play on Monday, May 7 (start times as per League rule).
Where more than 10 overs have been completed on any of the three days, League rules apply.
If none of the above are possible, then game are to be arranged for Sunday, May 13, and although some clubs may already have Heavy Woollen Cup arrangements for that day, they are reminded that Drakes League competitions take precedence.
