THE top of the Drakes Premiership II table is a crowded place after five games, with a single point separating no fewer than five teams.

Barkisland, Broad Oak and Skelmanthorpe share top spot with champions Slaithwaite and Elland a point behind after all were denied a result in Sunday’s rain-hit double header.

Ben Schofield (48) and Russell Holroyd (47) steered Barkisland to a four-wicket win over Armitage Bridge in Saturday’s programme, while Steve Rushworth (79no) once again proved his worth to Broad Oak in the three-wicket win over Shepley.

John Roebuck was the difference between Skelmanthorpe and Golcar, as the all-rounder took three for 36 and then hit a top score of 48 to lead the Lidgett Laners home.

Richard Haslam was eight short of an unbeaten century as League champions Slaithwaite defeated Scholes by six wickets, former Chapelgate ‘old (young) boy’ Jack Bryson tormenting his ex-teammates with 63.
