BLACK SHEEP champions Honley successfully negotiated the first round in defence of the Trophy they won last year, when they beat East Yorkshire Alliance side North Ferriby by four wickets.

The fixture was transferred to Honley’s ground, where Matthew Wood took three for 17 as the Hull outfit were dismissed for 152.

The holders lost six wickets in chasing down Ferriby’s score, but an unbeaten 57 from Richard Jakeman added to Simon Kelly’s earlier 51 saw them safely home. They will now meet the winners of the Cullingworth v Elland tie (scheduled for June 14).
