HUDDERSFIELD New College’s Cricket Academy sent a team to the BCS six-a-side competition at the Indoor Centre at Headingley and came away as resounding tournament winners.

The New College squad, buoyed by the inclusion of Yorkshire duo Gurman Randhawa and Jack Hargreaves, won all their five games, showing great quality in beating teams from Leeds, Greenhead, Bradford and Craven.

Coached by academy chief Dave Weston and South African Peter Lombard, who has recently joined the coaching team, the academy are now looking forward with confidence to the new outdoor season which gets under way on Wednesday, April 22.

Hargreaves, meanwhile, has been enjoying his experience on Yorkshire’s pre-season tour to Barbados and made his first-team debut in the game against Essex, where he was given a couple of overs, and made an unbeaten one not out at the end of the innings.
