OUTLANE Cricket Club had a double celebration as they were presented with their Clubmark from the England and Wales Cricket Board and opened their new double-net facility.
The clubmark presentation was made by Steve Archer, Cricket Development Officer for the Yorkshire County Cricket Board, who said: “I can’t emphasise how much work has gone into this and what it will mean for the club’s future development.”
The nets, at a cost of £20,000, were funded through the National Lottery’s Awards for All Scheme, who donated £10,000. Other contributors were the Lord Taverners (£3,000), Kirklees Local Area Committee, through local councillor Tony Brice, (£2,000), Holme Valley Lodge (£1,000) and Calderdale Community Foundation (£1,000).
Outlane chairman Anthony Briggs said: “It is a magnificent achievement for a small club like ourselves.
“We are very grateful for all the help and contributions we have received.”
David Normanton, president of the Halifax Cricket League, congratulated the Huddersfield-based club which runs two Saturday teams, a Sunday league team and four junior teams.
