HONLEY’S domination of the Drakes Huddersfield League’s Premiership has now been broken following Scholes’ triumph this season.

And Robert Moore, skipper of the dethroned champions, was sporting enough to pay tribute to their Holme Valley rivals, and his opposite number James Noble.

“Full marks have to go to Scholes,” admitted Moore.

“They may not have looked the strongest side in the League on paper at the start of the season, but they have certainly been the most consistent team in the League, and they fully deserve to win the title.

“They are a good set of lads at Scholes and both the Honley club and myself would like to congratulate them on winning the title this season.

“But next season we’ll be out to win it back, and we’ll soon be planning the best way to do it!”

For the record, Honley became the most successful club in the history of the League last year, when they took the championship and Byrom Shield for a record-breaking fourth year in succession.
