DRAKES Huddersfield League champions Scholes have been handed a home draw in the first round of this year’s Black Sheep-backed Yorkshire Champions’ Trophy.
Woodhouse Grange from the York Senior League will visit Chapelgate in a first round tie, while the competition holders will face Bradford League side Baildon – although last year’s trophy has still to be decided!
The 2009 final between York (conquerors of Huddersfield champions Honley) and Woodlands was put on hold at the end of the season, and is now due to be played on Sunday, April 25 (12.30) at East Bierley.
Should York win, then Scarborough will be invited to represent the Yorkshire League, and will playTreeton away in the first round.
As a result of recent changes, only 7 League champions will take part in the competition, and the other match features Methley (Central Yorkshire League) at home to Beckwithshaw (Aire/Wharfe).
Representatives are reminded that the next Heavy Woollen meeting will be held at Gomersal CC, on Tuesday, March 16, at 7.30pm.
Huddersfield League Premiership new boys Kirkburton are one of the two new teams in the Heavy Woollen Cup this season (only 32 clubs are now allowed to enter), along with Jer Lane, from the Bradford Central League.
Kirkburton will play Morley in their first round tie, on April 18.
