SCHOLES all-rounder Tom Brook hit an outstanding 110 not out as Huddersfield New College defeated the MCC at Lascelles Hall.

MCC declared on 280-4 thanks to a fine 110 from ex-Lascelles Hall player Simon Birtwhistle, even though New College’s Max Morley sent down 17 overs of left-arm spin and picked up two wickets.

In reply, Chris Holliday got the College off to a solid start, making 56 off an experienced opening MCC attack of Romain Grenville and ex-Lascelles Hall player David Redfearn.

The College continued to score well as Brook went in at No4 and dominated some good spin bowling to finish with his unbeaten century, guiding the team home with five overs to spare.

It was the college’s second win against the MCC.
