YORKSHIRE Under 16s had one win and one defeat at Elland.

Instead of a two-day county-style match, two one-dayers were played to enable Yorkshire to study the progress of more players.

A fine well-timed innings of 110 not out by Heworth (York) batsman Jack Leeming took Yorkshire home with one ball to spare in the first match – Yorkshire reaching 255-5 in response to Wales’ 252-7.

The second match was rain interrupted and reduced to 40 overs per side, Wales making 209 and Yorkshire being held at 193-9.
