BARNSLEY-born Yorkshire and England cricketer Kathryn Brunt, called in at Kirkburton Middle School, to give some high-profile coaching to Year 6 pupils.
The former pupil of Penistone Grammar School, set up and lead an exciting session during the PE curriculum and followed up with a second coaching session after school as well as held a question and answer sesson for the enthusiastic youngers.
“We at Kirkburton Middle School are always looking at ways to encourage both boys and girls into sport,” said head of girls PE Phillippa Proctor.
“We use Kirkburton as a focus cricket club and they have been a central part of the ‘Chance to Shine’ cricket scheme.”
