THERE was an astonishing tie between Elland and Kirkburton in the Sellers Huddersfield Junior League Under 13s.

Elland got off to a solid start on a wet wicket but slipped from 45-1 to 45-4 as Finlay Wilson took an all-bowled hat trick.

They eventually closed on 74-6 and looked in danger of losing as Kirkburton marched to 50-1.

Burton also drew level on 74 with only seven wickets down – Elland taking advantage of some poor shots with some good catches – but they lost their last three wickets without addition in the last over, which was bowled by Liam Senior.

Only Nathan Hirst for Elland and Ryan France for Kirkburton mastered the conditions and retired with the bat.

Hoylandswaine broke their duck and recorded their first win of the season, which means that every club now has at least one win.

They were too strong for Denby Dale, posting 113 and then restricting the visitors to 68.

Mike Makings was again in the runs for Swaine, supported by Chris Fallelo and Dan Partridge.

Barkisland followed up their first last win of the previous week with another one against Thongsbridge, with Josh Finch and Harry Nicholson retiring for the home team and only George Mallinson doing the same for Thongsbridge.
