Kirkburton have signed two key players to bolster their Drakes Huddersfield Cricket League Premiership squad in 2016.

Former Elland bowler Jack Hendy has joined the Riley Lane ranks from Bradford League Division I side Farsley – where he was on the roster alongside Tom Craddock last season.

And Burton have added former Yorkshire Academy and second XI all-rounder Chavez Younes, who works for Kirklees Council as an inclusion support worker and played for Methley in the Central Yorkshire League last season.

Methley, meanwhile, have signed Ashton Blakey from Elland.

Hendy makes a welcome return to the Drakes League having taken 28 wickets for Farsley as they finished third bottom of the Bradford League top flight last summer.

He had a best of six for 44 against Woodlands and bowled 150.4 overs, conceding 803 runs and taking his wickets at 28.68 apiece.

Meanwhile, former Drakes League club Kexborough, who now play in the South Yorkshire League, have made two stalwart players life members.

Opening batsman Neil Hinchliffe has scored over 16,000 runs for the Bence Lane club in addition to taking over 500 wickets and more than 250 catches.

Andy Greaves has taken over 700 wickets for their second XI.
