GOLCAR, beaten finalists for the last two seasons, have been drawn at home to Skelmanthorpe in the quarter-finals as they bid to make it third time lucky in the Romida Twenty/20 Trophy.

The Swallow Lane side finished runners-up to Elland (winners in 2010) in their group and were subsequently paired with Skelmanthorpe (runners-up to Hoylandswaine in their group) and will also have a home tie in the semis, should they defeat the Lidgett Laners.

The League’s two form sides, Elland and Hoylandswaine are also both at home, with the former meeting Shelley at Hullen Edge, while Swaine entertain Group 1 winners Broad Oak tomorrow evening (6.30).

In the final quarter-final tie, Scholes who finished on top of Group 3 despite losing their final game to Honley, will entertain Delph & Dobcross.

ALEX MORRIS and John Sadler doubled up to deny Skelmanthorpe victory in the final round of group matches, skipper Sadler grabbed four wickets for just seven runs, backing up Michael Cranmer’s three for five as the visitors were bowled out for 80.

Alex Morris then led the winning run chase with a knock of 65 as Hoylandswaine won with eight wickets in hand, leaving them top of their group.

Elland too were left chasing a modest total as Naz Rahman took three for 15 to help dismiss Hall Bower for 76, Lorenzo Ingram making 29 not out in reply.

Greg Wood made 67 and Liam Wiles 63 in the win over Clayton West, but neither managed to qualify for the knockout stages.

Craig Ruscoe and Jack Hargreaves both made 40 in a hefty 140-5 tally for Golcar, but it proved in vain as the match with Barkisland was one of four abandoned games, Kirkburton’s being the other which started but failed to finish, with Shelley needing just five more for victory.
