Green Moor have won the arrowselfdrive.com Huddersfield Central League title after overtaking Heckmondwike & Carlinghow in the final round of matches.

Moor trailed their rivals by three points going into the final round of Premier Division games and took the title in style with a 136 run win over Upper Hopton, while Heckmondwike were beaten by Silkstone.

There was no doubting Green Moor’s commitment to winning the prize as they set an impressive 225-6.

The Stocksbridge area side’s leading scorer was opener J Bates with a knock of 78, ably supported by L Burkinshaw who was 54 not out.

Upper Hopton were ousted for just 89 in reply with Burkinshaw claiming 3-3 and S Askey, who had hit 41 not out, taking 4-19.

Heckmondwike’s title push slipped away as Silkstone set 158, and their chase stumbled being bowled out 24 runs short.
