THERE seems to be no stopping Hoylandswaine as the Barnsley side added the Central League’s Twenty/20 trophy to their Allsop Cup triumph.

And they now only need one more point from their two remaining games this season to seal the League Championship and complete a brilliant hat trick of titles.

They swept past Azaad in the semi-finals with Ian Simon hitting 52 and Scott Marsh an unbeaten 45 in the seven-wicket win to set up a final clash against Thurstonland, who had earlier beaten Edgerton & Dalton by 52 runs after racking up a massive 197 total.

Thurstonland were soon on top in the final, and had Hoylandswaine in all sorts of trouble at 57-5.

However, opener Clark Pickles batted through the innings to make a valiant unbeaten 67 which helped Swaine reach 127-6.

And with Thurstonland’s reply never really getting off the ground, it proved more than ample as the Marsh Hall Lane side were dismissed for 70 to send the trophy to Hoylandswaine.

Simon hit another half century the following day in the Arrow Central League programme as they all-but sealed the League crown, beating Denby Dale by eight wickets.

Ankur Sondhi (54), Ryan Baxter (43no) and Simon (51) steered Swaine to 168-2 after the Dale had earlier made 163-7.

Challengers Westborough also won by eight wickets, beating Old Almondburians, but are unlikely to close a 12-point gap at the top.
