Drakes Huddersfield League product Tom Craddock has failed to win a new contract for 2015 with Essex.

The talented Honley leg-spinner, 25, joined the county from Unicorns three years ago and hit the headlines when taking five for 69 in the LV= Challenge Match against England at Chelmsford in 2013.

Opportunities have been limited for him, however, and he leaves the county along with former England fast bowler Sajid Mahmood, 32, who played eight Tests and 30 limited-overs matches for his country.

Mahmood signed for Essex from his native Lancashire at the start of last season.

Essex head coach Paul Grayson said: “It’s always a difficult time of year when releasing players.

“Both players have given Essex 100% during their time at the club. Both have been excellent professionals and we would like to thank them for their contribution. We wish them all the best for the future.”

Craddock played in the Huddersfield Evening League before breaking into the District League with Holmfirth.
