Michael Cranmer is officially rated a 50-50 chance for Sunday’s Sykes Cup final.

The Hoylandswaine skipper is under intensive treatment for a sprained right knee which he suffered in their T20 Trophy final victory over Barkisland the weekend before last.

Adelaide-based Cranmer, who has been on trial at Derbyshire this summer, has been one of the stand-out performers of the Drakes League season in leading his side to an 11-point advantage at the head of the Premiership.

He has 718 runs and 22 wickets for the Haigh Lane side, who are desperately hoping he will be fit enough to lead them in the arrowselfdrive-sponsored showpiece against Golcar at Honley on Sunday, when wickets are pitched at 1pm.

Hoylandswaine are also keeping a close eye on Ryan Copley, who is due to take the gloves because regular wicket-keeper Alan Mynett is away on holiday.

Copley has an injury problem of his own to overcome, so experience Second XI player and keeper Scott Marsh is on standby if needed at the last minute.

Incidentally, Honley are unable to offer the recreation ground behind the clubhouse as a parking option, so supporters are advised to use Far End Lane, Southgate Theatre or the public car parks in the village before walking to the ground.
