Drakes clubs out of Heavy Woollen

IT was not a good day for Drakes League clubs in the Heavy Woollen Cup.All three of our sides were eliminated at the quarter-final stage.Skelmanthorpe went closest to reaching the last four, losing by three wickets at home to Wakefield Thornes.Skelmanthorpe totalled 192-8 (Haroon Rashid 81, Jordan Greaves 34; Joe Cuthbertson 4-25), while Wakefield Thornes reached 194-7 thanks to Tharindu Perera 59 and Tom Marsden 44.Barkisland fell for 167 to Hanging Heaton (Jamie Summerscales 84; Jamie Baulk 4-25) before the visitors cruised home by eight wickets (Gary Fellows 52, Montcin Hodge 47, Imran Dawood 36no).Scholes put up 211-9 at New Farnley, who went through with 214-5 (David Cummings 53, Nick Walker 49, Lee Goddard 47). Hanging Heaton now play Townville and New Farnley are at home to Wakefield Thornes in the semis on Sunday, July 7 (1pm).

Hill Top duo get county call-up

SLAITHWAITE have had a couple of juniors called up for the Yorkshire Schools’ Under 13 sides.Jack Bower has been added to the A squad and Harrison Quarmby to the B team.Both also play for the Taverners.
