THE International Cricket Council have yet to decide whether to issue a public response following claims from Darrell Hair's lawyers that the world governing body have been guilty of "unacceptable and appalling" behaviour.

Umpire Hair confirmed yesterday he is to begin legal proceedings against the ICC and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), alleging racial discrimination.

The gloves are off again in a saga which has been to cricket's detriment since the Australian and his colleague Billy Doctrove oversaw Pakistan's forfeiture of last summer's Oval Test against England because of alleged ball tampering.

"It is our view, and that of our client, that he has been treated in an unacceptable and appalling manner - the reality in this case is that our client would not have been treated in this way if he had not been a white umpire," the statement asserts.

The ICC responded only by saying they would take legal advice. The PCB said they were "flabbergasted" by Hair's actions.
