James Wharton of Scholes Cricket Club has been selected to play for the North of England at the annual Bunbury Festival.

Currently captain of the Yorkshire Under 15s and a Drakes Premiership title winner with Scholes last season, batsman Wharton will take part in the 40th anniversary Festival organised by David English.

After trial games and squad sessions at Old Trafford, Ampleforth School, Loughborough National Performance Centre and Harrogate CC, Wharton was selected to play in the five-day Festival which runs from July 18-22 at Radley public school in Oxfordshire.

North of England will be competing against teams representing Midlands, South East and South West.

The 13 members of the squad are selected from the sixth most northerly counties and will play two preparatory games before travelling to Oxfordshire.
