HOLMFIRTH High School are the Yorkshire Under 13 cricket champions after a terrific run of performances in this year’s tournament.

Having already won the Huddersfield Schools Under 13s Division I title, Holmfirth were joined by another 122 entrants in this summer’s major county competition.

Playing superbly all the way through, they beat off the challenges of Mirfield Free Grammar, Ryburn Valley High, Royds Hall and Brooksbank Sports College to win the Kirklees/Calderdale area of the event

They followed that up with victory over King Egberts High School from Sheffield to win the area final, which qualified Holmfirth for the county finals day at Headingley.

In the semi-final they took on and beat Driffield High School, with Scholes player Louis Brook taking a hat trick in his figures of four for 12, and then defeated Easingwold High School by seven wickets in the final to land the Yorkshire Post Challenge Cup for the first time.

The final was played in fantastic sunshine.
