JACK HENDY will be hoping to put his Yorkshire form to good use for club side Golcar in the Under 15 Cup final at Lascelles Hall on Sunday (2.00).

The county all-rounder is the leading run-scorer in the Huddersfield Under 15 sections and will be hoping to get his hands on the Romida Hills Supplies Cup.

For that to happen, they will have to overcome a Lascelles Hall side who will be eager to demonstrate their all-round ability – it’s a 40-overs-a-side final – on their own Highfield Lane ground.

Hendy leads a Golcar side who, like the Hall, have been beaten only once all season and he has contributed 263 runs in his 11 innings (seven not out) for an average of 65.75.

Jake Lockwood, the four leading run-scorer in the league, has 240 runs from 12 innings at 26.67.

Hendy is a key bowler, too, although Golcar also have the leading Under 15 wicket taker in Josh Woodhead, who has 22 to his credit at a cost of 156 from 40 overs this term, and the top wicketkeeper in Lewis Berry, who has 14 victims (three stumpings and 11 catches).

Coached by Stuart Berry, the former Leymoor player, and sponsored by Specsavers, ADW Electrical, Taaj Restaurant and Junction One, Golcar will probably find themselves slight underdogs against a Lascelles Hall side who play in the very strong Area A.

Captain George Sommerville, Timmy Taylor, Tom Walker and the Booths, Toby and Harvey, provide the backbone of a long batting order, while they have eight frontline bowlers to rotate in front of keeper Jack Sommerville.

Mark Walker is the Hall manager, while coaches Steve Ellam and Tony Mulhall will want the team to reproduce the form they showed in defeating Clayton West by four wickets in the semis – George Sommerville hitting 31 retired and Taylor 32 retired.

Golcar beat Armitage Bridge by three wickets in their semi, Tom Willams hitting 32 retired (batsmen have to retire at 30, but in the final it’s 50).
