LINTHWAITE Under 13s are finally celebrating a win!
Their first success of the season came against Elland – but with just two runs to spare.
Zac Landon was Linthwaite’s best performer, top scoring with the bat and also bowling a tidy spell.
Slow bowlers were at the forefront of wicket taking in the latest matches.
Alex Daniels of Marsden led the way with four for nine, but still finished on the losing side against Holmbridge.
Liam Briggs did the damage for Broad Oak, claiming three for six with his gentle spin against Thongsbridge, while nine-year-old Sam Whitehead was the star for Micklehurst, taking two for seven and then contributing 20 not out with the bat.
Another bowler to record three wickets was Chris Hallas for Kirkburton in their win over Armitage Bridge.
The three Area leaders, Almondbury Wesleyans, Clayton West and Augustinians all had comfortable wins to maintain their clear leads at the top of their respective sections, and with only four games to go look strong for honours.
