THERE’S a cracking battle going on for the Under 13 Area C title – with Lepton and Shelley both winning off the last delivery!
Lepton hit a boundary off the last ball to beat Crigglestone, after Jacob Mulhall had top scored with 25 for them.
Shelley had Harry Stead to thank for an outstanding performance with bat and ball in their win over Mirfield.
In Area B, Paddock are in a strong position after overcoming their nearest challengers Delph, with Siraj Sajid and Moin Rashid leading them home in chasing down the 88 runs they needed for victory.
Slaithwaite remain in contention after beating Marsden but have only one more game to play.
Upperthong still lead Area A and their nearest challengers, Kirkburton, fell back after a defeat by Clayton West in a cracking match between two sides depleted by holidays.
Once again fielding made the difference, with Burton giving away 30 runs in the field and then falling just short in the run chase.
For Clayton West, Alex Spivey and Jack Taylor retired with the bat and then Taylor did the damage with the ball, taking three wickets.
The Under 15 end of season tournaments are getting under way this week.
