Nicky Shaw returned remarkable figures of seven for 22 to help Golcar Soaks lift the Huddersfield Evening Cricket League’s Emmerson Cup.

They beat Master Pizza Golcar by five wickets at Swallow Lane after bowling out their village opposition for just 91.

This would have been a much smaller total but for a big last-wicket stand in which Hafiz hit 34 not out. Tahir contributed 23.

Golcar Soaks were never really troubled in chasing down the target, despite losing a couple of wickets mid way, and they ended up with two overs to spare.

Ian Lockwood hit 29 not out and Liam Rothery 21, while Waqas took two for 22 and Wahid two for 14.

Before the main final, Fernside won the inaugural Priestley Cup final by six wickets.

Winning the toss and electing to field, Fernside restricted Lindley Liberal Club to 82-5 in their 12 overs. Top scoring for Lindley was Crowther (25), with Snow contributing 20.

The total was never likely to be enough and, with the help of 52 from Abbas and an unbeaten 23 from Mamood, Fernside reached their target in only 7.3 overs with four wickets down.
