IT was interesting to take notice of the Indian touring squad currently playing in Sri Lanka.
For in the 16-man party is Pragyan Ohja, formerly of Slaithwaite (last season), who had to return home after just five games due to a call-up for his national side’s A team.
It was a sudden blow to Slaithwaite, who were subsequently relegated, but it also caused concern in some quarters where it was felt his call-up was merely an ‘excuse.’
Perhaps his inclusion in the full Indian squad for a major Test and one-day series has now cleared up any confusion over the matter!
Ohja, the left-arm spinner from Hyderabad, earned the call-up to the one-day team and said: “It’s a dream come true. Any cricketer would want to play for his country. I will be concentrating on my flight and changes in pace and will generally try to bowl like I do in the Ranji Trophy.”
Ohja and Rohit Sharma were the two uncapped players selected for the Sri Lankan tour.
