BEN RAVEN-HILL leads the Huddersfield in their defence of the Joe Lumb Cup when they open the 2007 campaign against the Craven League at Almondbury Wesleyans on Sunday (1.30).
Raven-Hill, who enjoyed a tour to South Africa as part of a Yorkshire Schoolboys side earlier this year, skippered the Huddersfield Under 17s to a glorious victory last season, beating Barnsley in the final at Kexborough, and he is one of four Thongsbridge players, hoping to emulate the achievements of 12 months ago.
Sam Scott, who has recently transferred to top-flight side Shelley, is named as vice-captain.
Raven-Hill's Thongsbridge teammates are Ben Howitt, Danny Whiley and Alex Kemp.
Broad Oak supply their two county age-group representatives Jack Hargreaves and Charlie Roebuck.
The team will once again be managed by Richard Dodson, who helped weld the side into such a successful unit last year.
"We have an experienced side, several of whom have played in the competition before, but it is important we do not become complacent, as every team in the tournament will now view playing Huddersfield as their own Cup final," admitted Dodson.
"We welcome parents, friend and cricket followers to come and support the team, who will, as always, compete every ball and represent the town with pride. The Joe Lumb Cup is the premier junior cricket tournament in the county, with both national and county players involved."
The 12-man squad for Sunday (meet at ground at noon) is:
Ben Raven-Hill (capt), Ben Howitt, Danny Whiley, Alex Kemp (all Thongsbridge), Sam Scott (Shelley), Jonny Butterfield (Clayton West), Jack Hargreaves, Charlie Roebuck (both Broad Oak), Nick Taylor (wkt, Marsden), Joe Sykes, Nick Sharp (both Scholes), Richard Love (Meltham).
