TWO terrific performances marked Denby's overwhelming Section B victory over Badger Hill.

Stephen Roebuck cracked 20 fours and four sixes in the day's top knock of 130, while his opening partner James Gumpert added 49 in Denby's formidable 261-4 total.

Then when Badger Hill replied, they were quickly undone by Andrew Hodgson who claimed the excellent figures of seven for 27 from 12 overs, and that haul included a triple-wicket maiden as the Rastrick side were skittled for 77.

In the Premier Section, Azaad are still looking for their first win after Westborough's Chris Leathley was another bowler to grab a seven-wicket return, while Cumberworth defeated perennial rivals Cawthorne with J Haigh taking six for 31 to dismiss the Barnsley team for 127.

Earlier James Bower had top-scored with 42 in Cumberworth's 169 all out tally, Darren Lindley and Steve Glover each taking three wickets apiece.

Promoted Leymoor ran up a big win at Denby Dale, where Adam Turner cracked 88 and Rakesh Gohil 72 in their 272-6 total.

The home side were then dismissed for 133 with D Dyson taking five for 44 and Gohil helping himself to three for 38.

Ryan Copley was just seven short of a century when Hoylandswaine overhauled Old Almondburians' 211-2, Tim Taylor having made 85 and Steve Slack an unbeaten 83 for the Old Boys.

Birchencliffe are on the lookout for more players to enable them to put out a second team.

The Ainley Top club, who lost several of their playing staff prior to the start of the season, have been unable to raise a second team, and secretary Bob Smith has appealed to anyone who could help to get in touch.

"We lost a number of players in the close season for a variety of reasons, some to retirement, and some who moved to clubs closer to where they lived.

"We contacted the Central League officials and asked to be relegated because we all know what happened a year or two back when Ruddlesdens found themselves in the same situation, and after struggling with half-a-dozen first teamers, the club then went under.

"Contrary to what has been bandied about, there have been no problems at the club, it's just circumstances.

"But the fact remains at the moment we are unable to fill a second eleven, and we would welcome anyone, who is perhaps at another club where they are unable to get a game because there are too many players, to come along to Birchencliffe."
