SCHOLES Under 13s are chasing a national title.

The Holme Valley outfit reached the final stages of the English Cricket Board’s sponsored national competition at Oakham School, Rutland, later in the month.

And their success in reaching the four-day finals has force some hastily re-arranged holiday plans by the parents as they give their youngsters of the talented team their chance of glory.

In the round to go through they beat North Leeds at Chapelgate. The visitors batted first and struggled to 66-8 in their allotted 20 overs against some tight bowling from Jake Clayton, who kept a tight rein and conceded only five runs from his four overs, and Guy Pearson took three for 10 from his excellent spell.

Tommy Boorman completed two super stumpings and then swapped gloves for ball to take two for six.

Scholes paced their run-chase perfectly with Clayton (22) and Boorman making 48 for the first wicket. Boorman eventually took Scholes to victory with 26 not out and Ross Killock helped him attain the win with two boundaries in his 10 not out.
