CAWTHORNE’S Dale Skelly and Westborough’s Chris Leathley were the top prizewinners in the Arrow Central League after winning the Premiership batting and bowling awards respectively.
But both men were upstaged elsewhere as Denby’s Steve Roebuck became the only player in the entire League to top 1,000 runs for the season (making them in Section B), while Ian Simon, from Hoylandswaine, was the League’s leading wicket-taker with 80 (71 of them in the Premier programme).
Penistone stumper Duncan Richards, who plies his trade in Section A, was the most successful keeper in the League, winning the Gordon Hinchliffe Trophy with a total of 30 victims, while the H Whittaker Trophies, for the two outstanding performance during the season with bat and ball have gone to Chris Dobson, of Flockton, who smashed an undefeated 214 in the Section D game against Holmbridge, while Green Moor’s Jonathan Haigh bagged the tremendous return of nine for 14 against Calder Grove in a Section C game.
