DRAKES Huddersfield League champions Hoylandswaine received a snub when they were excluded from entering next summer’s Heavy Woollen Cup competition.

Cedar Court Conference champions Cawthorne were also overlooked at the Heavy Woollen competition’s annual meeting.

Representatives voted to replace three clubs who have resigned with three from the JCT600 Bradford League – Cleckheaton, Hartshead Moor and Pudsey Congs.

They will replace Barnsley, Wakefield St Michael’s and Drakes League side Kirkheaton.

A total of seven clubs applied to join the 2013 tournament, and as well as Hoylandswaine and Cawthorne, the others to miss out were Clayton (from Bradford) and Whitley Hall.

The draw for the first round of next summer’s HW Cup and Crowther Cup (for Second XIs) will be made on January 22.

Lesley Robinson, who has held the post as HW secretary for many years, has now retired from the role, and in recognition of her service has been made a Life Vice-President. Her successor is Susan Roberts, who takes on the dual role of secretary and treasurer.
