Tom Chadwick hit a glittering 151 as Scholes stayed top of the table with a record Drakes Premiership score of 410-6 at Kirkburton

The Scholes tally bettered the 405-4 set by Hoylandswaine against Delph just two weeks ago and enabled the Chapelgate side to stay a point clear of their rivals.

Jedi Sports Championship leaders Cawthorne remained in powerful form and Cedar Court Conference top dogs Rastrick squeezed home, Scholes turned on the burners at Riley Lane after being sent in as Kirkburton skipper Andy Smith looked to take advantage of a green tinge.

While they had early success to remove Tom Boorman, Chadwick then shared a stand of 202 for the second wicket with Northern Knights ace Joe Carter who, by the time he was out for 96 in 77 balls had hit seven fours and seven sixes.

Tom Brook made sure the onslaught continued with a 39-ball 60 including six fours and three sixes, and he shared in a third-wicket partnership of 119 with Chadwick, whose 150 came up in two hours and 49 minutes off 141 balls and included 23 fours and two sixes.

The total left Burton needing 303 to earn a point and they made a determined fist of it until young Louis Brook returned at the far end from the clubhouse to finish with four for 79 and leave the home side 271 all out.

Former Scholes man Iqbal Khan shared a stand of 117 for the second wicket with Asif Hussain, who hit three fours and four sixes in his 58 off 51 balls.

Khan hit nine fours in his 102-ball 56 and it was left to Jonny Butterfield to power Kirkburton past 200, hitting three fours and five sixes in his 45-ball 61.

Young Brook mopped them up, however, matching Craig Fletcher’s four wickets.

And Hoylandswaine remain firmly on track with five-wicket win at Skelmanthorpe.

Skelmanthorpe totalled 186-8 with 30-odds from Irfan Amjad, Shaun Alderson and Liam Fletcher, while West Indian Kesrick Williams led the Swaine attack with three for 38.

Swaine were in early trouble against Tuseif Arshad and Tony Goodin, but they recovered to win with 72 from Max Joice and an unbroken partnership between Yasir Abbas (19no) and Ben Potter (35no).

Hoylandswaine stay second with the win which left the Lidgett Lane side six points adrift at the bottom of the table.

Shepley beat Elland and are now seven points clear in third after Honley crashed at home to Delph.

Tom Denton hit 57 as Shepley totalled 192-9 against Elland at Marsh Lane, and with the help of three for 27 from skipper Danny Glover, Elland were sent back for 107.

Greg Buckley did the trick for Delph at Far End Lane, guiding them to a seven-wicket win after Honley had put up 173-6 thanks to 68 from opener Simon Kelly and 31 down the order from Danny Howard.

Lancashire’s Arron Lilley, one of their heroes against Yorkshire in the T20 Blast at Headingley the previous night, picked up three for 46.

Buckley dominated the reply with 92 not out and, alongside Chris Laker (36) ensured the visitors were home in the 41st over.

Slaithwaite underlined their belief of better things to come with a crushing win at Barkisland after Aussie Matt Bremner his 135 in their 285-7 (Shabir Rashid adding 64).

Luke Bridges hit 46 in reply and Alex Kaye 30, but Kiwi Dan Hill took five for 68 on debut to ensure the hosts were dismissed for 167.

Broad Oak got a vital win at Shelley to send the hosts into the relegation places and lift themselves out.

Johnny Greaves hit 86 and Sven Burluraux 45 as the Oak posted 231-9, and then Alex Slack struck with four for 55 to leave Shelley short on 190 all out in which Adam Brown hit 46.

Moorlands had a cracking win at Golcar after restricting the home side to 192-9 in which Steve Whitwam hit 52. Andrew Fortis with 74 and Will Binns 39 made sure Moorlands got home with five wickets in hand.

In the Championship, skipper Chris Walmsley hit 74 as Cawthorne crushed Almondbury, Jake Rodgers taking four for seven.

Saqib Matlub hit a fine 123 not out as Almondbury Wesleyans beat Linthwaite, Matt Henshaw taking four for 55 and Usman Siddiq three for 56.

In the Conference, Rastrick had their last men at the wicket in Robin Lambert (57no) and Jack Pearson (21no) as they beat Cumberworth by just one wicket.

Nick Wanden hit 104 to help Denby Dale beat Hall Bower, after former Town star Andy Booth had hit 54 for the visitors.
