YORKSHIRE went into action against Hampshire at Headingley today looking to build on their success away to Gloucestershire.

The batting of Phil Jaques and Gary Ballance inspired the successful run chase at Bristol, a result that leaves the undefeated Tykes joint top of the County Championship Division II table.

The task for skipper Andrew Gale’s troops is to now channel the confidence gained over the last two weeks into more Championship points.

However, Hampshire will want to bring Yorkshire down a peg or two.

The team from the south coast were the bookies’ pre-season favourites to top the second division table, but they currently sit sixth at the moment.

James Anderson and Charlotte Edwards have been named as the England cricketers of the year.

Fast bowler Anderson, and women’s captain Edwards, received their awards along with Kent batsman Daniel Bell-Drummond, named as development cricketer of the year, and disability cricketer of the year was Callum Rigby.
