UPPERTHONG moved into the last four of the Huddersfield Evening Cricket League’s Emmerson Cup by virtue of losing fewer wickets in a tight clash with Meltham Wanderers.

Upperthong won the toss and batted with Russell Briggs hitting an unbeaten 50 and Adam Wilson was not out 64 as they made 134 without loss off their 13 overs.

In reply Meltham looked in trouble at 12-2, but they battled back and were within sight as the final over started.

By the final ball Meltham needed three to win, but only managed to score two and produce a tie – Wanderers closing on 134-6 – that saw Upperthong through.
