Sarwan back in Windies squad

CRICKET: West Indies have recalled batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan for the limited-overs series in Australia. The 32-year-old has not played international cricket since July 2011, as concerns over his fitness led to a dispute with administrators. Sarwan was named captain of Leicestershire in December.

tennis: Laura Robson stunned eighth seed Petra Kvitova in an epic second-round encounter at the Australian Open.The British No2 joined Heather Watson in the last 32 after edging a topsy-turvy encounter. Robson won 2-6 6-3 11-9.

snooker: Neil Robertson played the shot of his life to set up a match-winning century as the defending Betfair Masters champion edged out Mark Allen to reach the semi-finals.In the deciding frame, Allen put Robertson in all sorts of trouble behind the yellow.Robertson’s only chance of escape was to target a red hanging over a top pocket, and Allen could do nothing as his opponent went off the baulk cushion, clipped the red and landed on the black.

cycling: Lance Armstrong has been stripped of the Olympic bronze medal he won at the 2000 Sydney Games because of his doping.

Derby worry

Showjumping:The Hickstead Derby is facing an uncertain future. Scheduled for June 23, it is without a title sponsor after Carpetright pulled out three months ago. The £120,000 prize fund needs to be maintained to attract a sufficiently high-quality field.
