CAWTHORNE stayed ahead of the field with an 82-run win over Mirfield in the Arrow Central League Premier Section.

Liam Wiles played a big part in Cawthorne’s win, scoring 52 and then taking four for 27 as Mirfield were held to 114-8 in reply to the leaders’ 196-6, in which Adrian Wilford made 36 and P Osbourne 62.

The top six teams all won, however, with Hoylandswaine keeping up the pressure on their Barnsley area rivals with a seven-wicket win against Edgerton & Dalton.

Danny Mulhall was a five-wicket performer, with Darren Lockwood also taking three before Scott Marsh hit 56 to seal a seven-wicket win.

Cumberworth stayed in third place with a three-wicket win over Leymoor who were bowled out for 99, of which Martin Allison struck 52.

Cumberworth’s M Dolley made an unbeaten 46 in the winning reply.

The biggest score of the day came in Section B, where Cartworth Moor topped 300 against Denby Dale, Tom Chadwick firing 106 and Scott Bissett 70.
