Three of the four prizes up for grabs at the recent Alliance at Outlane were claimed by Crosland Heath players in an extremely closely-fought contest.

On a soft, damp course with a cool easterly wind, scoring was high, with several scores below par.

The Pro-Am was won by Rob Booth and Chris L’Estrange (12) of Crosland Heath with 43 points from Bradley Hall’s Tim Pollard and Mick Appleyard (6) on 42.

There was a single eagle in this section from Dewsbury District’s Nigel Hirst, who had a hugely impressive two at the 315-yard 11th played into the wind.

In the Am-Am there was a three way tie on 43 points, with the first two places going to Crosland Heath’s Luke Pilkington (1) and Oliver Shaw (5) on a last hole countback.

The final hole clinched their victory, pushing clubmates Ed Pearson (19) and Matt Russell (19) into second place. Meltham’s Chris Holmes (7) and John Crosland (8) finished on third place.

Highlights of the day included Alex Malins (5), Independent Woodsome, chipping in from the fringe on the par five 12th for an eagle three, net albatross. There were also 13 net eagles, five of which were at the 12th. Ed Pearson had two net eagles, as did Crow Nest Park’s Chris Taylor.

The next Alliance meeting is at Ogden Golf Club on Tuesday.
