Ruben Jerome and skipper Paul Sykes scored first-half goals to send AFC Emley back to the top of the Northern Counties East League First Division with a 2-0 win at Hemsworth MW.

Jerome notched after being set up by Steven Kenworthy in the 32nd minute while Sykes converted a 43rd-minute penalty.

Darren Hepworth’s side lead the table on goal difference from Clipstone, who won 6-1 at Grimsby Borough.

Emley have a home derby against Penistone Church on Saturday while the development team host Silsden in a Lancashire League East Division game this Thursday (7.45).
