AFC Emley complete their build-up to the new Northern Counties East League season when they host Brighouse Town on Tuesday (7.45).

The Huddersfield side, who open their First Division campaign at Rossington Main on Saturday, are seeking a second Northern Premier League scalp in successive friendlies.

Darren Hepworth’s men saw off Ossett Town 1-0 at the Welfare Ground last Thursday, when former Huddersfield Town junior Steve Kenworthy was on target.

Emley, who finished a highest-ever fifth last season, have made a string of signings as they aim to mount another bid for promotion to the NCEL top flight.

The latest arrivals are Robbie Graham, who skippered West Riding County Amateur League side Ovenden WR last term, and former Bay Athletic man Danny Ryan.

Left-back Ryan has also had stints at Harrogate Town, Bradford Park Avenue, Lancaster City, Brighouse, Ossett Town, North Ferriby United and Liversedge.

Brighouse, managed by former Emley player Paul Quinn, don’t begin their NPL First Division North campaign until Saturday week, when they visit Trafford.

Quinn’s side, who finished 14h last season, were 4-1 winners against NPL top-flight team Ashton United on Saturday. New signings Steve Hollingworth (2), Jimmy Pollard and Danny Facey were on target.

Brighouse’s last friendly is away to Basford United, of the NPL First Division South, on Saturday.
