Four-goal Ash Flynn led the way as AFC Emley stormed to a 7-1 home win over Parkgate in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup.

Now the Huddersfield side, from the Northern Counties East League First Division, are looking forward to a trip to Burscough, Northern Premier League First Division North rivals of Brighouse Town, in the preliminary round on Saturday, August 29.

Rotherham team Parkgate, from the NCEL Premier Division, were missing a number of first-choice players, but this was still a powerful performance by Emley, who aim to continue their unbeaten start to the campaign in Wednesday’s league game at home to Hall Road Rangers.

Flynn, who claimed a quick-fire hat trick with goals after 20, 25 and 27 minutes, has now notched seven for the season.

His fourth against Parkgate came in the 63rd minute after the visitors had pulled one back with a penalty late in the first half at the Welfare Ground, where 249 watched.

Emley’s victory was completed in the final 15 minutes with goals from Kieran Ryan, Jordan Coduri and Alex Hallam.

Brighouse drew 2-2 at Trafford in their opening league game.

Paul Quinn’s side came from two down at the break to level through James Pollard and Ernest Boafo, who scored in the 88th minute.

Burscough were beaten 2-1 at home to Lancaster City.
