The District League Reserve Section started a couple of games behind the top section and so most have only played three games.

But there is a stark contrast in the results of Reserve Divisions One and Two when compared with the results in Reserve Divisions Three and Four.

In the first two divisions, only one side has a 100% record and that’s Berry Brow Reserves in Reserve Division One.

But in the bottom two divisions, there are still nine teams with the unblemished record – four in Reserve Division Three and five in Reserve Division four.

In Reserve Division One, Berry Brow maintained their record but it was by the narrowest of margins – a 1-0 win over Britannia Sports. They are two points clear of Newsome and Shelley.

At the top of Reserve Division Two, Skelmanthorpe and KKS Spartans are level with seven points each.

Skelmanthorpe had a 10-1 win last week while KKS beat Holmfirth Town by 1-0, but both sides gain the three points. However goal difference may count at the end of the season. Both these sides have dropped two points and that was in a 2-2 draw when they met each other.

In Reserve Division Three, three sides have a played three won three record. They are 3D Dynamos, Berry Brow A and Brook Motors Reserves.

Who wins the lower divisions can sometimes be decided by how often the teams in these divisions are weakened by calls from above.

If a first team have injuries or suspensions, calls on these teams can determine results and the final tables.

Diggle A are an example. For their first Saturday fixture, Diggle coundn’t raise three teams, so the A team suffer.

Since then, two wins from two games put them on the heels of the leaders.

Reserve Division Three and Four have 14 teams in each division due to applications from seven clubs wanting to run an extra team.

Four of the new teams have a 100% record. Salendine Nook, Fantastic and Aimbry have won three from three while Heyside A have won two from two.

The other side to have a 100% record are a bit of a surprise.

Scholes A finished 10th in a 12-team division, winning just five games all season. They’ve almost matched that already with three wins.
