Brighouse Town boss Paul Quinn is more than happy to have his side rated underdogs as they kick-off 2015 with a New Year’s Day trip to the seaside.

Quinn’s team take on Scarborough today in the first of two Evo-Stik Northern Premier League clashes with former Football League opponents in three days.

It’s Darlington away on Saturday, but the focus is firmly on the clash at Bridlington, where Scarborough ground-share.

The Seadogs are seventh again and out to bounce back after their 3-0 Boxing Day defeat by Darlington.

Brighouse, in 14th, beat Farsley 1-0, and Quinn said: “It was a huge win for us and the players are in buoyant mood at the moment. We know we will be underdogs in both the next two games, but we don’t mind that tag.

“We have often been dubbed as underdogs and it’s always added motivation for us. Scarborough and Darlington are both under pressure to win games to aid their promotion bids, whereas we can go and play with freedom, have a go and see what happens.

“We know it will be tough but we aren’t going into either game to just roll over.”
